Cert. PG  2018  1hr 49mins

An army veteran father and his teenage daughter are living an idyllic off-grid existence in the forests of Oregon when a small mistake derails their lives, bringing them back into the urban world and the control of social services.

Director Debra Granik made her reputation (and introduced Jennifer Lawrence to the world) with her debut Winter’s Bone. Her second film is an even greater achievement, deeply affecting and wildly beautiful, with stunning performances from Thomasin Harcourt McKenzie and Ben Foster whose changing daughter/father relationship forms the heart of the film.
